My first blog post was in May of 2009, I have blogged for nearly three years now.

The very first photo that I put on my blog.

Words cannot express how blogging, meaning the friends that I have made through my blog, has enriched my life.

You ladies have become some of my best friends.

For the first time in my life I have met a fabulous group of ladies who have the same interests that I have.

Many of you love thrifting, cooking, decorating, sewing, making the most of what you have, fluffing your nest and many of you even have grandchildren.

But the really beautiful thing is that most of you have made Christ the center of your home and lives.

Individually, we have laughed together, cried together, dreamed together, prayed together and sent treasured items through the mail just to say "I really care".

Thank you, sweet Millie.

We have shared heartaches, memories, photos, words of wisdom and encouragement and even little pieces of our hearts. 

When someone goes out of their way to do something for me, I'm very touched, in fact I am on the verge of tears.

That's how I felt when Gail of Gail's Decorative Touch

told me that she would send me a lovely turquoise jar that I had commented on. Isn't she a darling? If you have not seen her blog, you need to. This lady is a whirlwind of activity! And I love her pretty home.

Vintage Garage Sale Finds

Hello my friends, how has your week been so far?

Are you getting some lovely Spring sunshine, or were you hit with snow again?

Our weather has been fabulous!  Lots of sunshine and temperatures in the low 20's Celsius and low 70's Fahrenheit.

With the beautiful sunny weather comes GARAGE SALES!

I went to three on Saturday and I found some really great vintage treasures.

Take a look.

A wonderful 7-UP box!

I stacked it on top of the other one that I had here.

A sweet dog figurine that is as old as I am...that's getting pretty old!  It was purchased at a gift shop that used to be between the old Eaton's and Bay store in our downtown area in the year 1958.  The lady who sold it to me said that she had purchased it for her mother.

I love to know the story behind my vintage items.

Beautiful Manitoba

Hello  my friends, I do hope your week has been going well.

Our weather has turned sunny and with a little warmth to it, just right for April. The April showers that promise to bring May flowers have been here off and on, with plenty of sunshine in between.

This photo was taken last summer, the foliage has not appeared here, yet, soon I hope, though.  But I love this photo, it is of our beautiful Legislative grounds. It's my favorite place to visit in our city.

This is the magnificent staircase that you see once you've stepped out of the lobby into the Legislative Building.  Much of it is Manitoba limestone and marble. The bison is a symbol of Manitoba, where herds of them roamed at one time.

These were taken a month ago, the ice was just disappearing off of the lakes and ponds.

Favorite Things

Of all the rooms in my house my kitchen is my favorite one to photograph.

Of the vignettes in my home this one is my favorite.

My favorite new finds are:

I found these in Good Will last week.  They look vintage, whether they are or not, I don't know. The first one is of the Manitoba Legislative building in Winnipeg and the second one down is Government House, also in Winnipeg.  They are done by J. VanderSteel.  I like them, but don't particularly like where I put them.  Some things take time.

These are some of my favorite little people to take care of.  I do respite for a foster family here in town, I have these two every so often.  We went for a walk and it was windy and chilly, they insisted on staying at the park to play, but by the time we left they were very cold.  When we got back home they snuggled under a cozy blanket and watched The Berenstein Bears on my DVD player.

They are being moved to another foster family this week, so I won't see them again.  I have had lots of fun with them and will never forget them.

Hello my friends,

I hear that yesterday was National Sibling Day.  My little sister, Sue posted this photo of our family on FB.  I was seven years old here.  This is from 1965, my how we have changed!

I have three wonderful brothers and two sweet sisters.I am truly blessed!

Can you pick me out?

I'm not a blonde and I am the next to oldest of the six children.

The baby is now 47 years old and pastors a church in Victoria, BC.

Easter Monday

Happy Easter Monday!

We had a wonderful weekend with my husband's sister and her husband and sweet little four year old son.  He is such a good little boy, quite the card sometimes.  I made lasagna for our Good Friday dinner and he insisted that he did not want "basagna".  His mom corrected him several times, but it remained "basagna".  I won his heart when I told him I would cook spaghetti noodles for him and he could eat them with dried Parmesan cheese on it.  Thankfully, I knew that he liked it that way.  I guess the way to a boy's heart is through his stomach, too.  Boys are just little men, so that makes sense, doesn't it.

We went to the zoo and saw lots of interesting animals.

We showed them the old Pinawa Dam.

And we just had a really good time.  

 My sister-in-law and family left Sunday morning and we went off to church to celebrate the risen Savior!  I praise God for the fact that we can be saved and enjoy a relationship with Him.

 Well...it's appropriate in more ways than one.
I'm late posting this, I should have done it this morning.

And, I have two little rabbits under my cloche to show you.

 Mad Hatter: Would you like a little more tea?
Alice : Well, I haven't had any yet, so I can't very well take more.
March Hare : Ah, you mean you can't very well take less.
Mad Hatter : Yes. You can always take more than nothing.

Alice: [turning down an offer for a cup of tea] I'm sorry, but I just haven't the time!   
March Hare : The time! The time! Who's got the time?

I enjoy Alice In Wonderland because of the nonsense in it.

Sometimes I just enjoy nonsense, don't you?

I know it doesn't have anything to do with Easter, in fact what do bunnies and eggs have to do with Easter?  Nothing, right?  But then we who love to decorate, know that and just like to have fun with rabbits and eggs and such.

It's truly about Jesus dieing for us and then rising from the grave.
And that's the gospel in a nutshell, the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.  
Experiencing this salvation is the most fabulously, wonderful thing that we can ever experience.  It's what Jesus died for, and if you're like me you want everything that the Lord has for you.  I'm so thankful for Easter and the message that we are reminded of at this time of year.
